We train you how to do this safely and comfortably before you invest in the equipment.

Training consists of the introductory flight, where you are taken up in our two-seat trainer, the Powrachute Pegasus, which is equipped with full dual controls.

During this flight, the instructor will communicate with you via the intercom system in your flight helmet. He will demonstrate the maneuvers you will be doing during your flight, while you have your hand on the throttle so you can feel what it is like as he moves it to complete the maneuver. Throttle control is the key to becoming a smooth & perfected pilot. You will also get to steer the plane in flight from the back seat. Once you have the feel of the plane, you will fly the pattern, then do some touch & go’s, with the instructor coaching you through the maneuvers. After you have successfully done this portion of the flight, you will then land & switch to the front seat, so you will really see what it is like to fly, experiencing the feel of flying solo with your instructor along for the flight. In the front seat, you will be flying the plane; your instructor will be with you in the back seat, helping make your flight a safe enjoyable experience.

Our goal is for you to see what it is like to fly a powered parachute before you invest in your own plane. As the California dealer for Powrachute, we can assist you with that as well.

Advanced training will be done in your own plane or ours.

First Flight Course Package

GROUND SCHOOL-CLASSROOM PORTION GROUND SCHOOL

• Video of first flight showing how the Powered Parachute flies.
• First flight manual - written instruction on how to fly the Powered Parachute
• Waiver & release - video presentation and written documents.
• First Flight Training and acknowledgement, and written test.
• Question and answers with your instructor.

AT THE FLIGHT FIELD

• Set up Powered Parachute on field.
• Pre-flight briefing consisting of take off procedure; kiting the wing, making sure it is stabilized before lift off; throttle and steering commands, ground steering and take-off.
• A 30 minute instructional flight in our two-place powered parachute. Since this plane has full dual controls, you will be able to take the controls; both throttle & steering from the back seat and fly the "Pegasus" yourself. You will gain throttle control skill, which is the single most important part of smooth control of your powered parachute, as well as get the feel of steering. You will be flying the pattern that you will fly when you switch to the front seat for the second portion of the first flight course, as well as doing low pass drills and touch & go’s.
• You will be in contact with your flight instructor over the 2-way intercom used during the flight. This allows the instructor to coach you during the flight and enhance your flight skills, in preparation for your flight in the front seat in complete control of the aircraft.
• Front Seat "solo" test: you pre-flight, take off, follow the pattern, and fly touch & go's.
• Post flight debriefing.
• First Flight Certificate.

When you are ready for your sport pilot rating, we can schedule you for our advanced flight course. The advanced course will allow you to develop your flight skills to the level required to have your logbook endorsement to fly a two-seat Powered Parachute solo.
