Advanced Flight Course
Sport Pilot Training

Sport pilot flying requires a high level of skill, training, and experience.
There are also tests to pass before you are certified.
Federal Aviation Regulations for the minimum requirements for Sport Pilot for
Powered Parachutes:
- You must log at least 12 hours of flight time in a powered parachute, including
10 hours flight training (dual) and at least two hours solo flight training
in the areas of operation listed in FAA Regulations, Part 61.313.
- One hour cross country flight training
- 20 takeoffs and landings to a full stop in a PPC with each landing involving
flight in a traffic pattern at an airport.
- 10 solo takeoffs and landings to a full stop in a PPC with each landing
involving flight in a traffic pattern at an airport.
- One solo flight with a landing at a different airport and one segment
of the flight consisting of a straight-line distance of at least 10 nautical
miles between takeoff and landing locations, and
- Three hours of flight training on those areas of operation specified in
part 61.311 preparing for the practical test within 60 days before the date
of the test.

The Inland Paraflite Advanced Training Package
A pre-requisite for this course is our First
Flight Course.
During your training you will be flying dual with your instructor, flying front
and back seat as training dictates. You will be flying solo when you have demonstrated
the skill required to handle the plane safely and perform all the specified
tasks.
Ground school
- Airport operations
- Use of sectional charts for navigation and airspace control.
- National Airspace System
- Cover tasks in the PTS (Practical Test Standards) that will encompass sport
pilot requirements
- Other ground school classroom time for the necessary knowledge required.
Our flight training manual and study guide will be provided for your study.
Dual flight operations with instructor
- Take-offs and landings in light wind, moderate wind, high wind (15 mph).
- High angle and low-level landings in various wind conditions.
- Complete review of the Practical test standards flight tasks for Sport Pilot.
Flight maneuvers
- Fly a rectangular pattern, following the PTS for Sport Pilot.
- Do S turns over a road, maintaining specified altitude.
- Turns around a point.
- Other flight maneuvers from the PTS. (Practical test standards)
- Demonstrate the technique used in flight to find the wind if you do not
have a wind sock available.
Accuracy spot landings
- Land within a specified area of the field.
- Perform low angle approaches and landings touch-down at a specific target.
- Perform high angle approaches and landings, starting at 500 feet and demonstrating
proper use of S turns to descend to desired altitude to touch down at a specific
target.
Low Level Flying
- Fly and maintain level flight 10 feet above a road, and follow the road
for over a mile.
- Learn a combination of using flare and power to maintain control at low
level.
- Perform accurate spot landings.
On satisfactory completion of this course, you will be endorsed to take the
Sport Pilot Knowledge Test and the practical test with the Sport Pilot Examiner.
